do i really not look singaporean? oon kee thought i wasn't singaporean when she first saw me. and today some nepalese waiter told me i don't look singaporean. he said i look like a japanese or korean. and now robyn says i look a bit like a vietnamese. OMG. does it get any stranger?! SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT OTHER NATIONALITY I LOOK LIKE.
everywhere was too damn crowded for a friday afternoon/evening. and i saw so many ex-classmates. bonnie, at suntec (didn't say hi), debrah, at the central (she saw me and said hi actually), ping zhen, somewhere around the central (didn't say hi either) and fidelis, also somewhere around the central (said hi and talked for a bit) and then weisheng, at clarke quay mrt station (said hi and took the same train), who was as drunk as a lord.

ratatouille ratatouille ratatouille ratatouille ratatouille ratatouille ratatouille ratatouille ratatouille ratatouille . haha. the rat's so cute. but all the rats were acting strange cause they were french rats with american accents. well... non-french accents. haha. and the animation is so goooddd. but must say that the storyline was quite cliched and the ending was kinda predictable. especially the part about the anton ego. but i shall not spoil it any more for people who haven't watched it yet, and who are planning to watch it. in all, worth watching especially if you could use a laugh and some entertainment. hahaha.

nothing AT ALL like the rat at the soyabean place. hahaha.

this week's been pretty quiet. and it passed quite fast. nothing much happened. except that i found out that i'm phoebe's brand new... no... newest sidekick. hahaha.
she invited me to watch a play at her church with her as a replacement for someone (thanks. i really feel very wanted and like a TRUE sidekick) who couldn't make it about charles wesley. he was "one of christendom's most outstanding poets... many of which were set to music for use as hymns..." (quoted directly from the programme). he and his brother john are best remembered as the founders of methodism because they led a small group of students (who called themselves the Holy Club)from Christ Church College of Oxford University where charles studied. they were later called the "methodists" because of "their methodical concern for the daily routine of living, study and social service". basically it was a mini biography and the church invited the group to put up the play because it's his three hundredth birthday.
it was quite good. a musical drama (the first time i've heard of such a term) and there was only one actor who is a professional baritone singer. his voice was SO low. and nice. haha. the play was interesting. a bit hard to understand because he was speaking quite fast and using eighteenth century english. but it came with just the right amount of drama, humour and captivating moments. in all, a pretty interesting play.
oh and it was interactive too. hahaha. the audience was asked to play a group of drunken sailors in a tavern charles wesley preached in. and the lyrics they originally used was not at all meaningful, so charles wesley changed it and taught it to the sailors the following night. and the audience was supposed to sing the lyrics to the tune of "here we go round the mulberry bush".
i think i'll leave it to
phoebe to fill you in on what happened before the play when we were waiting for her friends to come. hahaha. i feel mean and like an evil scheming person.
still no reply from monash or usyd or anything. i made up my mind that i'm gonna apply to university of edinbrugh, sheffield, imperial college and either oxford or cambridge for next year entry to medicine. and that i'm gonna try writing to a hospital to see if i can shadow a doctor. or volunteer there. and i still haven't done it. i'm procrastinating. BAD.

phoebe you mei and i made strawberry cheesecake muffins today for edwin's b'day celebrations tmr. and for his b'day gift. in addition to the chocolate chocolate chip nut muffins i made yesterday.

so i went down to PS after music today to get a box for the muffins. the meeting was a huge fiasco. you mei and phoebe were supposed to meet at serangoon mrt and take a bus together here. but since i was down at ps i thought i'd ask them to wait and then go back together. so i messaged you mei to ask them to wait for me. so she did so at the platform. with phoebe presumably waiting upstairs at the psc. but phoebe's phone was turned off so we couldn't contact her when i arrived and we had waited for some time. we thought she had gotten abducted by another ang moh cheekopek or some indian cheekopek cause apparently she met one at the station today. so we waited and waited but she didn't turn up. so i called home to ask if she was there. but NOPE. so i told robilyn to call me if she did turn up. and we waited some more. and then robilyn called to say phoebe had reached home. apparently her phone battery had died and she had gone up to take a bus home. while we were waiting all the time for her at the station -.-and she couldn't remember either of our numbers so she couldn't contact us either.
so anyway we went back and baked strawberry cheesecake muffins! i think we put too much jam and too little cheese though. can hardly taste the cheese. and it's mostly lumped together. the first layer if the muffin batter followed by cheese and jam and topped off by muffin batter again. and when we put them into the oven some of the jam overflowed and burst through the top layer of muffin. they looked like they were bleeding. but still it was nice for a first attempt.


must remember to take a picture of the gift tmr before we give it to edwin.
my poor b2... no banana chocolate chip muffins for him): only chocolate chocolate chip nut muffins and strawberry cheesecake muffins. i hope he doesn't mind. heh.

went to jb yesterday. and spent three quarters of my day waiting. and the other one quarter eating, travelling and... nothing else.
we had to go into jb yesterday because mom had to renew her passport, which was going to expire in three days (from yesterday). we went to the immigration building, and i waited for mom to get her picture taken, to fill in the forms and to pay for the new passport. then both of us waited for 45 minutes for them to proccess the passport. we were done by about 12 and we went back for lunch.
then we went to visit the elder grandaunt. i suggest you skip to near the end unless you have nothing better to do than read this complicated part of my entry. we brought my younger grandaunt from singapore in to visit her elder brother (my granddad) and her elder sister (the elder grandaunt). and hence begins my story of my family tree. the elder grandaunt is 95 this year and isn't very mobile. and she sees things. so it's not been a very good time for her family members who are looking after her. she has about 13 children (i think), but the responsibility of looking after her has been taken on by her eldest daughter who is now suffering from high blood pressure. lucky for her, she has (i'm not sure how many) children who share in the responsibility. yesterday we went to visit her and she saw quite a few creatures around the house on a few occasions. from snakes to cockrels, she saw them all. it's quite sad, but i guess it all comes with growing old.
and then her eldest son came to visit just as we were about to leave, so we sat there for another about half an hour to chat. the eldest son is 80. 5 years younger than his uncle, my granddad, who is 85 and 6 years older than his aunt, who is my younger grandaunt who is 79. which messes up my sense of perspective quite a bit. which also means that while her mother was pregnant with my younger grandaunt, my elder grandaunt was pregnant (at 16) with her first son. and that's not it. the eldest son has a daughter who married an old swedish guy, who gave her up to his son because he felt that they would be happier together. and this cousin of mine, who is now married to a young swedish guy has a daughter, whose father is... i'm not sure who. i THINK it's the old swedish guy.
so i met all of them yesterday, and i must say... it was quite entertaining trying to figure out who was whose aunt, uncle, cousin and so on. please... you would find it entertaining too if you had nothing to do except listen to the elder grandaunt's droning voice talking non-stop in cantonese for the whole afternoon. at least she's still quite lucid on her 'good' days.
i think i shall attempt to draw a family tree. i think i'd need a piece of a3 or a2 paper.
oh right and on monday mom tried to make muffins with her cupcake recipe by adding extra baking powder. didn't succeed at all. though the taste of the cupcakes was no different from the normal cupcakes. so it was quite good though more airy and lighter than normal. i thought they were going to burst in the oven.

HAPPY BELATED NATIONAL DAY!
heh. sorry about the 'belated' part. haha was busy entertaining phoebe who over here for a sleepover and to watch the parade on tv. and she says i sound like a bimbo on my blog. OMG. POO. anyway let me recount the things we did. heh.
so she came over at about 5. and we watched the parade from 6 to 8.20. in the comfort of home, while some others went down to squeeze with the crowd and get sticky with sweat and all. heh. eww. but i think it was just as good on tv. then we had dinner. mom's chicken pie, plus mashed potato, and chicken wings. YES AND PHOEBE'S PEANUT AND LOTUS ROOT SOUP. haha. and then we watched troy and then raise your voice. and then we took pictures (please refer to
PHOEBE'S BLOG) and finally went to sleep at like 3.30. and i woke up at 7.42 today to drive mom and bernard to the mrt station. and i was totally stoned. i cut into the path of a motorcycle and like mom was almost screaming hysterically. and we went to eat roti prata. we watched the prince and me 2 and had spaghetti for lunch and then watched just married.
it was fun! too bad the other girls didn't come.
